Dear reader, 

My name is Liv and like you, I am a book lover. I love the way a book takes me out of this, sometimes, chaotic world we live in and transports my mind to a place, I otherwise, would never imagine. I have found such solace and comfort in the worlds authors create between pages, as I'm sure you have too.

I love the way that books bring people together. I am actually a nail technician so I spend my days talking to lovely women, many of whom also share a love of reading. I enjoy talking about books, I enjoy being recommended a good book and I love that so many people share in that joy. I have, many times, considered joining a book club, but I am an introvert through and through. The thought of sitting in a room full of people that are, most likely, more intelligent than me talking about a book that I maybe wasn't even that interested in to begin with, just doesn't sound like a good time (I'm definitely generalising and know not all in person book clubs are like this). So I thought, "I can't be the only one right?" 

The fact you're here reading this tells me I wasn't wrong. That is where 'Yours, Dear Reader' came from. I wanted to feel like I was a part of a community of book lovers without committing to a meeting once a month. Of course online book clubs exist and they are so great, they serve their purpose. But I wanted something that felt a little more analog, so it aligned more with the act of reading. And what's more analog than receiving bookish mail every month. And what's better is you have the comfort of knowing that there are also other people receiving the same mail as you each month at the same time. A connection without the commitment and socialising, the perfect combination of being involved and doing it alone.

When you join YDR you will be in charge. With multiple recommendations a month you can pick and choose which books you'd like to read and you can decide whether you want to have a chat about it with other YDR members in the community. There's no pressure and I hope this becomes your favourite way to discover new books. I hope to create a community that is surrounded by our love of stories.
